[Event Announcement] International Conference on the Implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty (To be held on November 13, 2026 / Free Admission)
The Assistive Technology Development Organization (ATDO), in collaboration with the organizer, The DAISY Consortium, announces the "International Conference on the Implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty" to be held in Tokyo (Haneda) on Friday, November 13, 2026.
This public international symposium marks the 30th anniversary of the DAISY Consortium. Experts from organizations of persons with disabilities, specialized institutions, and international bodies (such as WIPO) from around the world will gather to discuss and present achievements and challenges regarding information accessibility and the global implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty for persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled.
*About the Marrakesh Treaty: Adopted by Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2013 and entered into force in 2016, the Marrakesh Treaty is an international copyright treaty created to facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled (ratified by Japan in 2019). Under the treaty, member states establish limitations or exceptions in national copyright laws, permitting the creation and cross-border exchange of accessible format copies without requiring authorization from copyright holders.
The conference will be held in a hybrid format, featuring both in-person attendance at Congress Square Haneda and online streaming via Zoom Webinar. Accessibility services including English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation, sign language interpretation, and real-time captioning will be provided. We look forward to your participation.
